Tailscale

Tools only your crew’s phones can open

Tailscale links your own phones, tablets and computers in a private network. Once your CrewBuddy server joins it, the tools it builds open only on the devices you add.

Text it like this

Fictional example.

You: Make a board for this week: each job, the crew on it, materials ordered or not.
CrewBuddy: Plan: a This week screen with each job as a card, the crew, and a materials ordered toggle, plus an All jobs list. Starts with two made-up jobs you can delete. Good to build?

Two kinds of pages

Every CrewBuddy can make simple pages that open from a private link for 30 minutes at a time, like a punch list. Builder and Tailscale add a second kind: tools that stay up all the time on your server, with their own records, and open on your network’s devices without asking for a new link.

That suits tools the crew uses all week: a job board, a truck and tool sign-out sheet, a materials tracker.

How a tool is made

CrewBuddy asks a few short questions, shows a plan and a rough sketch, and builds only after you say yes. Before you see it, the tool is tested with made-up jobs and you get phone and computer screenshots. The tool goes live when you approve that exact version, and later changes get their own screenshots and approval. A rollback restores the earlier code, and records already saved stay as they are.

You manage the devices

Your Tailscale account decides which phones can reach your tools. Add a new crew lead’s phone, or remove one when someone leaves, and we show you how. The same network lets you preview website changes before they go public.

Good first tools

A weekly job board with the crew on each job, a truck and tool sign-out sheet, a materials tracker that shows what is ordered and what has arrived, or a simple inventory of what is in the shop. Each keeps its own records on your server and has a button that downloads a spreadsheet.

What it is not

These tools are for you and your crew, not customers, and they have no login of their own: being on your Tailscale network is the lock. Anything customers should see goes on your website, and quote requests from customers arrive as texts.

If you change your mind

If you switch Tailscale off, the tools stop opening on your devices, the records stay on your server, and a link page can cover the gap.

Start with a link page. If the crew opens it every day, move it here.

Start with one tool

With Builder and Tailscale, CrewBuddy builds small tools for your crew, like a job board or a tool sign-out sheet, that open only on devices in your private network.
